After causing an uproar online after being featured on Pappy Kojo’s 1 Sima, The Township has released an exclusive video where he touches on the record in question, his verse, and his craft.
The Fante-tongued artist details how he had a phone call one day from Pappy Kojo who comically referred to him as “Takoradi Dumbledore” because that’s The Township’s Twitter handle. A simple breakdown of the reference in this nickname for those who don’t know.
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is a major protagonist and character in the Harry Potter franchise. They dub him as one of the greatest wizards in the world of magic and is the head teacher of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry ultimately before his demise at the hand of a trusted friend and partner, Severus Snape.
The Township taking on the nickname Dumbledore only suggests that with his craft, he does things beyond the imagination and perspectives of people; – blows your mind, which is effectively what magic does. Anyway, back to the interview.
He prepared the verse after the call and eventually sent it to him. Eventually, the shoot had to happen so he would meet Pappy for the video. The artist reached there with his stylist and Pappy almost mistook his artist for himself.
The Township speaks about the respect he has for Pappy in the interview as he’s the most friend; y person but switches to work mode without delay when the time is up for stuff to happen; as professional as can be.
The Township touched a bit on his creative process and how he just needs to know how he feels about a record. That’s enough fuel to motivate him in getting his lines down.
So he says that he put together the verse for 1 Sima in a mere 10 minutes. His first line was enough to set him off for the rest of the verse, more or less.
The Township is a faithful person of the Christian faith. So he keeps his faith flowing through his artistry. He speaks about the challenge of having to get on the track of this nature and still maintain the core of himself, his faith, and his skill regardless.
His word for this track is glorious. One highlight of his career so far, especially with the industry artists giving him props. Asked about whether he would jump on a controversial record, he replied in the negative.
