If you didn’t already know, we introduce The Township to you
He’s been releasing wonderful music for a while now since he made his debut on the scene. For most music lovers, Black Dude on the Amistad comes to mind as the record everyone was talking about online when he dropped it. His blend of hip-hop and rap in a music scene like ours makes him an already unique artist, and his musicality is top tier.
With all those quality records dropped, he’s set to drop a new single.
The Township as we know him has also dropped The Swerve, Vol. 1, and Dragon Tooth & Drowning Men, always going for thematic names and concepts for his record. Come 12th September, he breaks the silence with a single dubbed ‘King’ which has its genre rooted in the more popular Afro-pop. He has Laami on this, who brings vocals onto the record to add a golden touch to it. The record is produced by Swit.
What King is about …
The song hinges on the concept of realizing that time and tide waits for no one in this world and that you need to make a move to make things happen. A simple yet profound narrative, timely in a generation like ours who are on the extremes of life – either waiting for stuff to happen or killing ourselves to get things done.
Balance is necessary, but you cannot stay in your comfort zone forever. Put some wind in your sail despite the circumstances and roll with it. Whatever happens, know that God has got your back. Looking forward to this single!
