The defending champions looked off the pace against a well oiled Roma machine, and playing with 10-men didn’t help their case. However, as it has become the story for Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo hit a brace to secure a draw for Juventus.
Roma took the lead early on via a penalty only for Juve to equalize similarly as they made a handball call against a Roma defender after Ronaldo attempted a pass in the box. The Portuguese showed no signs of easing off the goal-scoring pedal as he dispatched the spot-kick to perfection.
That goal only galvanized the Roma troops, who took the lead right away after the penalty. The half time whistle came with Roma in the lead.
Things went from bad to worse for Juventus as Adrien Rabiot was dismissed after his second yellow. Roma had several chances to punish the champions, but a team with Ronaldo in it never succumbs to defeat without putting up a fight.
And the mercurial goal scorer rose highest in almost suspending fashion to a cross and nodded in restoring parity. Ronaldo, although was on a 10-man side, wasn’t backing down from running at the Roma defense, causing many problems for them.
The match eventually ended with both teams tied, and Juventus has dropped points early in the race for the league.
