3 music-ep of the year

To be honest, there are some great EPs up there. Killbeatz coming out with a project was one that surprised many but it was a joint that was warmly received nevertheless. But the impact Kidi had with his Blue EP was felt beyond our borders. The single ‘Say Cheese’ was on blast everywhere. And to compliment the Sugar Daddy, his record with Adina was phenomenal. The EP probably had only one or two issues but it was largely a successful project.

Camidoh’s talent is still easing into the mainstream but his project isn’t one you can write off. However, the fact that he’s on this list alone shows his potential. Mood Swings and Ayalolo are also decent bodies of work.

Kofi Jamar, Joey B, and Gyakie are providing tough competition, however. Gyakie has had a remarkable time since she dropped the EP and after Forever, off the project was remixed with a feature from Omah Lay, she’s been signed to RCA UK Group. There’s a lot to enjoy in this category but ultimately, only one will walk home with the accolades.

Projected Fan Favourites: Blue by KiDi, Seed by Gyakie, Lava Feels by Joey B

3 music-awards-break through art of the year

The breakthrough act of the year is a very very tight category. The likes of Bosom P-Yung whose break came when he dropped Ataa Adwoa. We have Mr. Drew who has dropped a host of club bangers with features from Sarkodie and Kelvynboy. We’ve already touched on the strides that Gyakie is making in her career and that affords her a place in the lineup as well. Yaw Tog is one of the chief architects in the evolution of Asakaa music.

The high school student managed to get UK artist Stormzy & +233 hitmaker Kwesi Arthur on the remix of Sore. A song whose original version had already gone through the roof in terms of virility and sparked the inception of the Kumerican owned Asakaa drill sound.

Kofi Jamar and Kweku Flick as well as Larusso and Camidoh have all held their own since they stepped onto the scene and you can deny them their appearances here.

Projected Fan Favourites: Yaw Tog, Gyakie, Mr. Drew, Kweku Flick, Camidoh, Bosom P – Yung
